Shock Wave Therapy
Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) involves the delivery of high intensity ultrasound waves through a special hand piece to the targeted tissue. It can be used for a number of musculoskeletal concerns to enhance and accelerate tissue repair, create re-vascularization (new blood vessels), increase cell growth, pain relief and restoration of mobility. Some conditions we commonly treat using shock wave can include:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Ligament Injuries
- Tendinopathies, tendonitis, tendon tears
- Chronic soft tissue injuries
- Bursitis
Your Podiatrist will assess your condition and prescribe the correct management plan for you. Generally, 4-6 sessions of shock wave are required at 1-week intervals. Other complementary therapies may also be used to help strengthen or offload area and prevent future injuries.
