Heel Spurs

Heel Spurs

What are Heel Spurs?

Heel spurs are bony growths that form under or the back of your heel.  These calcium deposits form as a response from the body’s defence mechanism. When an area of bone is subject to constant pressure, rubbing or other stress, it responds by trying to repair itself, building more bone over a period of time.

What are the Symptoms?

  • Sharp pain like a knife in the heel when standing up in the morning.
  • A dull ache in the heel throughout the rest of the day.
  • Inflammation and swelling over heel area.
  • Heat radiating from the affected area.
  • Pain that is localized at the back of your heel
